When we think of great clarinet tone, we often think of a sound that is full, resonant, and clear!
Here is a video along with sheet music of exercises I use in my warm-ups for a great clarinet tone! I go over register slurs, and a chromatic scale full range exercise for a full, consistent clarinet tone.
Click here for the free sheet music exercises to go along with the video!
Some tone tips to think about as you go through the video:
-tongue position should be "ee" or "urr" (too low = a blatty sound!)
-air speed should be fast and cold! Try putting your hand paper's-length in front of your face and blowing "hee" into it. Air should be hitting towards the top of your palm.
-try these exercises with a tuner to make sure you're getting consistent intonation.
Long tones are a crucial part of any warm-up and will help achieve that beautiful, round, tone! If you want some extra help with your clarinet technique, you can book a special rate lesson with me here! Musically, Ana
